I began on a very different path.
A dedicated non-profit employee, I spent 10 years working with four different organizations in both New York and New Mexico. I kept experiencing the same karmic circle of burnout and exhaustion, and the same toxic work environments with energy vampire bosses & coworkers.
While my heart and mind believed in the work I was doing, something wasn’t working for me. I started reading books to try to better understand energy, being empathic, and particularly the way that our energy interacts with the energy of the people around us and how that affects us.
After many tumultuous years in the non-profit sector, I finally found my way to working with crystals. In a PhD level cultural anthro class I was taking for fun I came across a book about the making of value in the mineral marketplace, and that book mentioned the Tucson Gem Show. At the time I was living in Albuquerque, just 6 hours from Tucson! I convinced my hubby to drive down to the show with me and check it out, knowing absolutely nothing about crystals or about the gem show. I literally got super overwhelmed and bought one amethyst and went home. That was 2016. The experience sparked a curiosity which turned into a hobby, then a passion and now has evolved into my own small business!
I began going to Tucson and then Denver gem shows each year, and stopping at every crystal shop I could find in the Southwest when we went camping or on road trips. As anyone who has been to gem shows knows, it is much less expensive to buy whole flats or kilos of material. So I started doing that, started selling stones to friends and participating in popups in New Mexico. I also started a little instagram account called MineralogyProject.
Over the past 3 or so years, I have slowly and sustainably grown this business with a tremendous amount of love and care. Allowing my intuition to lead my educational content and my stone offerings, and turning something that was a passion into full time employment. I have built a beautiful community of humans who are curious about vibrational healing // energy and we support each other through ongoing learning and dialogue about our experiences with stones. If you aren’t familiar with my insta you can find me @MineralogyProject.
In 2019, after quitting my last nonprofit job in homelessness services in Albuquerque, I took a 6 month intensive online course with Naisha Ahsian, through which I cultivated my own regular mediation practice, dialogue and personal relationship crystals. Accessing and becoming deeply connected with the unique vibrational bandwidths of energy available to us through the mineral kingdom. I continue to use her framework of balancing elemental energies as the primary way I work with crystals.
I am also ever curious, and continue to read, research, explore and share new ideas and tools that resonate for me. I am interested in better understanding our energy systems, and specifically, finding tools that can support empathic folks (energetically porous or sensitive). I want to help support people who find themselves constantly shifting on the seas of other peoples energies to become more grounded, resilient and capable of holding their own vibrational state. To this end I work with crystals as vibrational healing tools - which support our energy system, and increasingly also with essential oils. When the imbalance is energetic, often we have to route around or intellectual or emotional understandings of situations in order to directly shift our the vibrational state. I search for and share tools which help us connect with our energy system and nervous system directly, allowing for vibrational and physiological shifts which help us become more resilient.
I am not on the path I expected, I am on a much more exciting one, join me!
