Tucson Gem Show 2022: Day Two
January 27, 2022
Holy crystals Batman. Today began and ended all at one location, flitting from booth to booth for about a full 8 hrs of stone selecting I came away feeling like I really hit my gem show flow and stride!
Beginning the day with my awesome Indian folks and going huge on almandine garnets and black tourmaline palms, two beautiful earth elemental energy stones I am hoping to spend a lot of time with in the coming months! I also selected a handful of super shimmery rubies, and a few each of a bunch of fav materials like moonstone, infinite serpentine and ruby kyanite — mostly in sphere or heart form.
Then! Yessss! I found the wonderful owner of the Zambian citrine mine. My hands down favorite citrine in the world and spent a long while selecting deeply saturated natural citrine from him (I got two spheres too!!) after I ran over to a dear Brazilian vendor and snagged flames in a few beautiful material but really splurged on a few heliodor, tourmaline and aquas! All individually and thoughtfully selected.
I had time to explore a bit and found wayyyy more unexpected exceptional material. Russia direct pyritized ammonites and a few azurites from a super sweet older stone carver named Shafkat, pyrite in hematoid quartz from Brazil, and these gorgeous naturally dark smoky quartz full of interior shatters and rainbows! Wrapped up the day swinging by to say hi to Lulu and pick up a bit of larimar.
