Tucson Gem Show 2022: Day Four

January 29, 2022

By far the most elegant day of Tucson gem show, I just got home from digging through a barrel of rose quartz, and then hauling 30+ kilos of it in and back out of the car… as one of my clients so eloquently quoted Ms. Congeniality on my behalf, she’s beauty and she’s grace… lol. Cut up fingers and sore back are the signs of a truly successful day at the gem show!!!

I began the morning going through all the material I still needed to buy and vendors I needed to go see — prioritizing folks who don’t ship between shows — and weighing the funds I have left with the stones I most want to work with in the coming months.

First stop was picking up more of that stellar crystalline epidote from the new to me Peruvian vendor I found yesterday. I rinsed one of the dusty clusters I got yesterday and the color and luster are even nicer than I’d expected! Then on to my high grade Indian smalls. The vendors are so incredibly kind and patient and I spent like 3 hours picking through everything and pulling out the most beautiful rainbow confetti pieces of sunstone, some dravite, gemmy kyanite, a bit of a bunch of other things like Atlantisite minis and emerald minis, ahhh I just love everything I get from them. But it’s definitely quiet and patient work! And she even offered us the most wonderful home made ladoos made with jaggery which is not common in the US! Tasted like India. Which fills my heart.

Then on to slowly hand selecting lithium quartz mine direct plus I snagged the coolest pieces of lightning strike quartz and a few other yummy rocks from them!

Finished up the day back at my lovely vendor who has watermelon rose quartz! I asked about it 2 days ago and they found the drum yesterday and here I am pulling the entire remaining stock they have out of the drum for you crystal loves! I left a few so heavy I couldn’t lift them but took home the rest. About 30 kg lol. Feeling so generally pleased with everything we’ve sourced and excited to share it with you all this spring and summer.
